The Closing Ceremony of the “Women of the World” Film Series organized by USAID was held at EMK Center on December 7, 2015 observing international human rights day. In the film series EMK Center screened one film about women’s empowerment in every two months from November 2014 to November 2015.
“When woman and girls have equal opportunity to live and work only then they can reach their full potential,” Ambassador Marcia Bernicat said at the occasion urging the youth to come forward and work together in advocating gender equality.
The program was a gathering of a number of Bangladeshi gender champions, including development professionals, university teachers, and media personnel from various sectors. The objective of this initiative was to raise awareness on human rights and gender issues among Bangladeshi youth especially university students with the aim of reducing gender based violence and promoting gender equality.
Later Ambassador also inaugurated a photography exhibition at the Center.
Angela Aggeler, Director SCA/PPD, Department of State, USAID personnel and State Department officials from Washington DC were present at the program.
